Except for those quoting Obama, virtually every headline in the past 12 hours has described Copenhagen as an epic failure. Well I beg to differ. An ultimate failure by one man's definition is often the ultimate success for his opponent. Friday's joke of an agreement is non-binding, completely negotiable and does as much to reduce so-called greenhouse gas emissions as a hammer (What can you expect from a group of privileged elite being rushed out of their global warming meeting to their carbon-factory limos and private jets so they can avoid the ensuing blizzard?--but I digress). Which means that we won. Perhaps it was that the weather outside was frightful. Perhaps it was the new wave of skepticism brought on by climategate. Perhaps it was that the US knew going in that any agreement signed would be unconstitutional. Who knows? Regardless of the reason, Copenhagen was, in my book, an utter success.
About Obamacare...
Even though the Daily Kooks and Move On are opposing it
And the unions are now against it
And the Repubs will make the Dems read the bill. Out Loud. 3 Times.
And only 34% think Obamacare would be better than nothing
And no one has actually even seen the real bill
There are plenty more reasons for the dems to let this one go: Like the fact that it's not a good idea. That it will tank the economy. That it is unconstitutional. That it will be the largest expansion of the federal government evah. That it will ration care. That it will drastically reduce our freedoms. But I'm starting to think that, get-this, they don't care. Or maybe they just don't know. Either way, we should call them and let them know.
202-224-3121. go.
